Louis S Prangl, een jongeman uit Cook County, Illinois, werd geselecteerd voor de US Army Air FOrce (USAAF). Zijn training kreeg hij op diverse militaire bases door heel Amerika. uiteindelijk werd hij lid van crew Gaik. Deze crew kwam na enkele omzwervingen terecht in Framlingham, Engeland. Ze kregen het beladen crew-nummer 30 toegewezen als onderdeel van het 569th Bomber Squadron, 390th Bombardment Group, Heavy.

In dit deel van de website zul je informatie vinden over Louis Prangl, (alle bemanningsleden van) crew # 30 Gaik, hun missies, hun bommenwerper B-17 “Flying Fortress”, de verschillende posities binnen een bomber-crew en de 390th Bombardment Group.

 

In mei 2007 heb ik het graf van Louis Prangl op de American Cemetery and Memorial in Margraten, Nederland geadopteerd. Dit was tevens het startpunt van mijn zoektocht naar informatie.

Bijzonder detail is het feit dat Louis gesneuveld is (KIA) op de verjaardag van mijn vader Hub Hensgens.

Louis S Prangl, a young man from Cook County, Illinois, was selected for the US Army Air Force (USAAF). He had his training in several military camps all over America. Finally he became member of crew Gaik. This crew was stationed at Framlingham, England after several wanderings. They got assigned the emotionally charged crewnumber 30 as part of the 569th Bomber Squadron, 390th Bombardment Group, Heavy.

In this part of the website you will find information about Louis Prangl, (all crewmembers of) crew # 30 Gaik, their missions, their bomber B-17 “Flying Fortress”, the several positions inside a bomber-crew and the 390th Bombardment Group.

 

In May 2007 I adopted the grave of Louis S Prangl on the American Cemetery and Memorial in Margraten, The Netherlands. This was also the start of my search for information.

Special detail is the fact Louis was Killed In Action (KIA) on the birthday of my father Hub Hensgens.
