Visit Family of John Hemstreet at Margraten

[:nl]

Finally family of John Hemstreet was able to visit the Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial at Margraten. Brendan Gibbons, grandson of John’s cousin and best friend Richard Gibbons, was our guest from June 11 till 18, 2014. Brendan also did research to find information about the WW2 history  of his family members. Especially John or “Jack”, as he still is called by family, was his favorite subject. We had a terrific, busy and emotional time together with a busy program of many visitations, but also 2 presentation by Brendan for students of the 2 schools where I work as music teacher, St. Jans College Hoensbroek and BC Broekhin Roermond. The press was interested in both presentations. This resulted in Roermond in publications in a local news paper De Trompetter and an interview for the local TV station. The news paper De Limburger did publish an article about the presentation at Hoensbroek.
