“Briefing was om vier uur. We zouden naar Koblenz gaan. Het was een makkie (‘milkrun’) de eerste keer dat we naar Koblenz gingen werden we van alle kanten beschoten. De leidende navigator verprutste het toen en leidde ons direct over de luchtverdediging. De temperatuur was nu 50 graden. De koudste tot nu toe, maar er zullen nog wel koudere volgen. We kwamen terug op de basis om 1 uur in de middag. Het was slechts een 6-uur-missie – niet slecht. Ik hoop dat de rest ook zo zal verlopen.”

“Briefing was at four. We were going to Coblenz. It was a milk run. The first time we went over Coblenz, Germany we got the sh—shot out of us. The lead navigator screwed up and took us right over it. The temperature was 50 degrees. The coldest yet, but there will be colder ones. We were back at the base at one in the afternoon. It was only a six hour mission – not bad. I hope the rest runs like this one.”
