Sinds de vorige melding op deze pagina, begin januari 2012, heb ik de Nederlandse vertaling van de After Action Reports betreffende de maanden september en oktober 1944 toegevoegd aan “Timeline 111th FA”. Verder zijn er binnen het deel “Breberen” foto’s toegevoegd uit de periode 1944 en 1945. Deze foto’s heb ik gekregen van leden van de Historieverein Waldfeucht, Duitsland, waarvoor mijn hartelijke dank. Twee avonden ben ik te gast geweest in hun home/museum, werd ik hartelijk ontvangen en rijkelijk overladen met vele verhalen en foto’s.

LAATSTE NIEUWS ZOEKTOCHT: Begin januari 2012 heb ik contact gekregen met familie van Joseph Evanovich uit crew # 30 Gaik. Joseph had een broer en zus; zijn zus Ann is afgelopen jaar eind mei overleden en dankzij haar overlijdensbericht op internet heb ik haar zoon Robert kunnen opsporen met hulp van de Monroe County Historical Association uit Pennsylvania, USA. Nog slechts 1 familie uit de laatste samenstelling van Crew # 30 Gaik ontbreekt op dit moment.

Eerstvolgende aanvulling zal zijn het verhaal over Breberen, de 111th FA en de 29th Infantry Division.

Since the last post on this page, begin January 2012, I put the Dutch translation of the After Action Reports concerning the months September and October 1944 in the chapter “Timeline 111th FA”. For the rest you will find some photos about the period 1944/1945 in the chapter “Breberen”. These photos i received from members of the Historical Society “Historieverein Waldfeucht”, Waldfeucht, Germany, for which I thank them. Two evenings I was their guest in their home/museum, I was welcomed and received a lot of stories and photos. 

LATEST NEWS RESEARCH: Begin January 2012 I I got contact with family of Joseph Evanovich, crewmember of crew # 30 Gaik. Joseph had one brother and one sister; his sister Ann died at the end of May 2011 and thanks to her obituary on internet I was able to locate her son Robert with help of the Monroe County Historical Association from Pennsylvania, USA. Only 1 family from the final composition of crew # 30 Gaik is lacking on my list at the moment.

Following addition will be the story about Breberen, the 111th FA and the 29th Infantry Division.

Welkom op mijn nieuwe website. In de afgelopen weken heb ik samen met Martijn de layout van de website onder handen genomen en de indeling bepaald. Zoals je in het Foreword kunt lezen is deze site opgedragen aan de 2 Amerikaanse soldaten waarvan ik het graf hebt geadopteerd op de American Cemetery and Memorial in Margraten, Nederland. In de afgelopen weken heb ik over John Hemstreet de meeste informatie op de site geplaatst, onder andere zijn Biografie en staat er de eerste informatie bij de Timeline betreffende zijn eenheid; nog niet alle informatie is in beide talen beschikbaar, maar dat volgt zo snel mogelijk. Bij het andere verhaal over Louis Prangl en crew # 30 Gaik vind je wel de paginaindeling, maar slechts beperkte informatie op dit moment; de informatie die er staat vind je bij het onderdeel Positions B-17, de algemene beschrijving van elke positie binnen een crew van een B-17. Van hieruit kun je uiteindelijk ook naar de individuele personen doorklikken, maar deze informatie staat er nog niet.

Ik hoop dat je de opzet en inhoud interessant genoeg vindt om nog eens vaker terug te komen; ik houd je op de hoogte van de vorderingen via dit weblog. Laat gerust een berichtje achter. Bedankt voor de vele leuke reacties die ik al mocht ontvangen.

Welcome to my new website. In the past few weeks Martijn and I worked hard making the lay-out and set up for this site. As you can read in the Foreword this site is dedicated to the 2 American soldiers of which I adopted the grave at the American Cemetery and Memorial in Margraten, The Netherlands. In the past few weeks I put information on the website, mostly about John  Hemstreet, for instance his Biography and the first infomation about the Timeline of his unit. Not every story is already available in 2 languages, but this will be realized as soon as possible. In the other story about Louis Prangl and crew # 30 Gaik you will find the division into categories/pages, with at the moment only limited information; the information you can read is in the section Positions B-17; this is the general information about the positions inside a B-17crew. Eventually you can click on the name of a person to get personnally information about this crewmember.This information is not available at this moment.
